Connecting the hunt of the past with the hunt of today and preserving it for the hunt yet to come.
About Pennswald
The Name
Pennsylvania (Penn’s Woods) was given to English elites by the King of England. But it was tamed by immigrants and pioneers that were often times fleeing persecution or crushing debt in the Old World. The bulk of these were of Germanic stock, hence a Germanic name. And while hunting was monopolized in Europe by the elite class, the New World offered an opportunity for the freedom to provide for one’s family, defend a homestead, and subdue the wild. So the name is Pennswald (a liberal rendering of Penn’s Woods), combined with Jäger (hunter), and Klub (club). PJK provides a community for hunters to preserve their traditions, expand their experiences, and create new traditions for generations to come.
The Goal
Pennswald Jäger Klub is working to preserve traditions and build new ones. We want to capture the hunting traditions of PA, gain perspective on the reasons behind the hunt, educate on best practices, and guide the development of original traditions that we are all capable of creating.
Your Role
PJK is a community in which all members participate. In order to properly capture the stories, traditions, techniques, and best practices of hunting in the Keystone state; we all must contribute. Your hunting experiences in Pennswald are valuable, they are worth preserving. Imagine a grandfather who passed down all of his stories, knowledge, and experience as best he could but his children let that information fade into obscurity. That’s why we want to capture and archive these traditions. So they can be shared around, passed down, and implemented to enhance the hunting experience of other PA hunters.
